Ayşenur Kuruca

Born in 1991 in Istanbul, the artist started her illumination education at the age of 14 in Asiye Kafalıer's "Mim-Art" workshop. In 2009, she participated in the Classical Turkish Arts Foundation Illumination programme and completed her education under the tutelage of her teacher. In 2014, after graduating from Marmara University Biology Department, she completed her master's degree in the Art Illumination at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2019. She took bookbinding courses from Assoc. Prof. Yasin Çakmak and completed his PhD programme at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Bookbinding in 2023, which she started in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Ahmet Sacit Açıkgözoğlu.

The artist deepened her studies in this field by taking the courses of geometric pattern analysis in Islamic art, which she started in 2017, from Prof. Miroslaw Majewski and continues to give training on this subject in various institutions. The artist, who participated in various group exhibitions at home and abroad, held her first solo exhibition on *Traditional Turkish Islamic Bookbinding Art* in Sarajevo in 2024. In addition, there are digital plate designs in the exhibition hall of the Imam-i Azam Museum established by TİKA in Baghdad. She continues to give illumination classes at the Classical Turkish Arts Foundation and the Human and Irfan Foundation.
