He was born in 1987 in Istanbul. In order to discover his interest and talent in art, he was involved in many branches of art, and in 2006 he learnt the art of paper marbling and found the branch of art in which he could express his feelings.

The artist, who continues to work with his endless love for the art of paper marbling, received his paper marbling ijazah (authorisation) from his Lecturer Çetin Çelebi in 2009. He participated in many exhibitions, fairs and workshops in order to protect, promote and transfer the traditional Turkish Paper Marbling art to future generations.

The artist has been awarded prizes and degrees in various paper marbling competitions and has the artist identity card of the Ministry of Culture. His works are included in many collections at home and abroad. İlker Selimler still trains students in his workshop in Beşiktaş, Istanbul and provides online trainings on the art of paper marbling to hundreds of art lovers in more than 60 countries around the world.
