Kifayet Özkul

Born in Sivas in 1973, the artist completed primary school in Çankırı and Konya, secondary school in Konya and Erzurum, and high school in Erzurum and Istanbul. Between 1992-1996, she graduated from Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Traditional Turkish Arts with the first ranking.

She lived in Germany between 1996-2010, where she continued her artistic activities and gave education to students. In order to teach our art to Germans and Turks living there, a European Union Project was realised in cooperation with Duisburg Businessmen Association.

 

In 2010, upon the invitation of Dr. Faculty Member Süreyya Oskay, head of Istanbul University Vocational School of Technical Sciences- Ceramics, Glass and Tiling programme, she returned to Türkiye and started to work as a lecturer. After the division of the university into two, she continues her duty at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Department of Handicrafts, Ceramic Glass and Tiling programme.

In 2019, she completed her master's degree at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Old Tile Repairs programme, and in the same year, she started her Proficiency in Art / Doctorate programme at Aydın University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Design.

 

Between 2013-2017, she gave tile art training to disabled children in Esenler Orthopedically Handicapped Association. Since 2013, she has been providing support to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a tile artist. She has attended many exhibitions in Türkiye and abroad as a solo and participant. Since 2011, she has been participating in art activities and projects for the Law Enforcement Agency and young people.

The artist generally works on Turkish States, Great and Anatolian Seljuk Period artefacts and Turkish mythology.
