Rüveyda Onat

Born in 2000 in Brussels, Belgium, the artist discovered her interest in photography during her childhood. In her youth, her desire to see the world from different angles deepened this passion. She studied at the Department of Photography at L'Institut National de Radioélectricité et Cinématographie (INRACI) in Brussels. Her end-of-year project at school, *L'oeil d'Istanbul* (The Eye of Istanbul), brought together street photography from Türkiye and Belgium. In this work, she combined the photographs she had taken in the regions where expatriates live in Belgium and in Türkiye, especially in Afyonkarahisar and Istanbul.

The work of the artist, who gave this name to her project in dedication to Ara Güler, who is known as the "Eye of Istanbul", was exhibited and published as a book. The artist, who has participated in exhibitions such as La Nombreuse in Brussels, will be exhibited this year with a work selected under the theme "Where There is Shadow, There Must Light" of the Yeditepe Biennial. Working in black and white, this work strongly emphasises the relationship between light and shadow and invites the viewer to their own inner journey.
