He was born in 1969 in Istanbul. After primary school, he became a hafiz for three years and studied religious sciences. He attended secondary school at Bakırköy İmam Hatip Secondary School and high school at Pertevniyal High School. He started calligraphy at the age of 12 and illumination at the age of 16. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Economics and AÖF Theology. In 1985, he continued his teacher Nilüfer Kurfeyz's classes and made this art a way of life. He opened his first solo exhibition with Nilüfer Kurfeyz in 2005 and his second solo exhibition titled "In the Presence of Love" (“Aşkın Huzurunda”) in 2009 and took part in numerous group exhibitions. His book titled 'Journey of Illumination Art' ('Tezhip Yolculuğu'), which he prepared with Nilüfer Kurfeyz, was published in 2020. Since 1990, he has been working with Nilüfer Kurfeyz on co-signed works. He is a consultant teacher at Bahariye Art Workshops He is an educator and member of the scientific board at the Presidential Department of National Palaces and Classical Arts Training Centre.
