Sevim Bayazıt

She was born in 1973. Although she studied theology, her predisposition to painting and handicrafts brought her together with the art of calligraphy. In 2007, she started taking taliq calligraphy lessons from Calligrapher Tahsin Kurt at Istanbul Vocational Courses (ISMEK) and received her ijazah (authorisation) in March 2013. The artist, who won many awards in international competitions, was awarded the first prize in the branch of Jali Taliq Calligraphy in the 6th Albaraka Türk International Calligraphy Competition and the second prize in the branch of Jali Taliq in the 12th International Calligraphy Competition of the Islamic Research Centre for History, Art and Culture (IRCICA).

The works of the artist, who has signed many original designs in the art of calligraphy, were included in collections and exhibitions in Türkiye and abroad. She still continues to keep this art alive and hand it down it by giving private lessons to her students.
