Born in 1978 in Ayancık district of Sinop, Sevinç Aktaş graduated from Dumlupınar University Kütahya Vocational School, Department of Tile Work in 1999. During her education, she took lessons from prominent teachers such as Mehmet Koçer and Mehmet Gürsoy and developed her competence in tile art. In 2007, Aktaş started to work as a tile instructor at BUSMEK and in her 17-year career, she has trained hundreds of students and played a key role in passing traditional tile art down to new generations.
The artist, who attracted attention with the Karagöz and Hacivat motif tiles she prepared for the 33rd International April 23 Children's Festival held in Bursa, contributed to the international recognition of Turkish tiles by exhibiting her works in countries such as Macedonia, France and Germany. She was awarded the Professional Service Award by Bursa Green Rotary Club in February 2024 for her achievements in her art.
In 2013, Aktaş founded the Sıraltı Tile Workshop with her sister Mesude Taşova, where she creates and teaches works that combine traditional motifs with a contemporary interpretation. Sevinç Aktaş, who develops modern designs inspired by tradition, continues to shed light on the future of tile art in her 25-year art career.
